VOLUNTEER DONATE
Acterra is a nonprofit organization based in Palo Alto that brings people together to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly society.
Currently, there are many science-based environmental issues that need to be addressed. To do so, Acterra believes that we must educate people on the importance of climate change and corporate sustainability, and together build a healthy planet.
Dating back to 1970, Acterra and its predecessor organization focused on wetland preservation, residential and commercial recycling, and protection of old-growth forest, though not to the exclusion of other issues. To make a bigger impact, Acterra created programs on the importance of a healthy planet. In 2016, Acterra’s Stewardship Program became an individual nonprofit organization, Grassroots Ecology, which uses community engagement to create a healthier ecosystem across Silicon Valley.
Acterra is recognized for fighting against climate change. Its programs influence local communities in both the home and the workplace.
