VOLUNTEER

Asian Law Alliance, established in 1977, is a non-profit organization providing equal access to the justice system for Asian, Pacific Islander and low-income populations in the Silicon Valley.

The alliance helps its clients find housing, fight evictions, and obtain public benefits (Social Security, family maintenance and disability). Lawyers can help with immigration and deportation defense, and staff can assist with applications for citizenship and green cards. Those who are victims of domestic violence or violent crimes can receive assistance.

The organization also works to defend and promote laws that assure full rights and opportunities to Asian/Pacific Islanders. The passage of regressive laws in recent years has threatened these goals, and in response, ALA has worked with community groups to protect the rights of immigrants, families and the poor.

ALA is available to help even though the physical office is closed due to current public health concerns. All intakes are conducted remotely and no walk-ins will be accepted. For consultations or to speak to an attorney, call (408) 287-9710. Services are available n Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Korean and other languages as needed.
