VOLUNTEER DONATE

The all-volunteer Nike Animal Rescue Foundation is dedicated to protecting dogs and cats. NARF holds spay and neuter programs along with public education to improve the lives of all animals.

Founded in 1985 in San Jose, California, Nike Animal Rescue Foundation is not at all affiliated with the shoe company, but rather the touching story behind the foundation. It was late January of 1985 when Janessa Dabler heard about a dog who had been found in a ditch with her puppies. The dog, injured and underweight, was sent to urgent care. When the puppies were healthy enough, they were sent off to permanent homes. Janessa’s mother and stepfather later adopted the mother dog and named her Nike, the Greek word for “Victory.” After many loving and happy years, Nike passed away in 1992. While Nike may be gone, her legacy lives on in the Nike Animal Rescue Foundation.

NARF rescues and shelters dogs and cats while providing them with the necessary medical attention. NARF also offers community programs that include spay and neuter programs, financial assistance, foster care, and senior services.
