San Jose Catholic Worker provides food, showers and hygiene supplies to individuals and families who are homeless.
This is a Catholic Worker community, committed to transforming the community and collectively helping people in need. The community offers temporary shelter for women with and without children, free showers and basic supplies for individuals who are homeless.
Founded in 1933, the Catholic Worker movement helps individuals and families in poverty. The movement is “committed to nonviolence, voluntary poverty, and the Works of Mercy as a way of life.” The San Jose branch is a house of hospitality where the homeless and the hungry are welcome to find resources and opportunities to better themselves and others around them.
During this COVID-19 pandemic, San Jose Catholic Worker has been a strong advocate for outreach to support unhoused individuals, emergency shelter space, public health care workers, transportation assistance, and more.
