San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles promotes and celebrates the artistry and history of quilts and textiles. The museum is known for exhibitions that explore all aspects of fiber art, collaborating with traditional artists and innovators to showcase different designs and provide creative activities for viewers to engage with the art.

The museum’s key objective is to recognize the diversity of uses for quilts and textiles. To display a variety of pieces, the museum has a permanent collection of more than 1,000 textiles that includes historic and contemporary quilts as well as garments and textiles from around the world.

Established in 1977 by the Santa Clara Valley Quilt Association (SCVQA), the Museum was incorporated in 1986 as a nonprofit public benefit museum. The museum continues to partner with SCVQA and Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence to jointly operate the program Quilts as Women’s Shelter, which aids victims of domestic abuse.
