A full-time resident of Nevada County since 2003, Gregory J. Diaz was appointed to serve as the Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters in 2007. He has since been reelected by the voters, most recently in 2018. He also serves as the county’s registrar of voters. Prior to his appointment, Diaz worked for the City and County of San Francisco for 18 years, including eight years as the County Clerk-Recorder. He graduated from Swarthmore College with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in education. Diaz says, “Outside of Police and Fire, the most important service government can provide to its citizens is its role as the custodian of vital and official records and ensuring the integrity of elections.”
