Office of Education Santa Clara County Board of Education Trustee Kathleen ​M. King

After her appointment to the board, Kathleen King ran for a seat in 2020. She represents Area 2, which covers Cupertino Union, Lakeside Joint, Loma Prieta Joint Union, Los Gatos Union, Saratoga Union, and Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School district and small portions of Santa Clara Unified and Sunnyvale and the corresponding portion of Fremont Union High.

King has served as a board member for several organizations, including the Dental Board of California, the Housing Trust, and Santa Clara Valley Medical Foundation. She was the founder and chairman of Silicon Valley Children's Hospital Foundation, and founder of the Saratoga-Monte Sereno Community Foundation.

On June 11, King resigned from the Santa Clara County Board of Education, citing her intention to focus on the Healthier Kids Foundation, a nonprofit for which she’s served as CEO the last 13 years.
