FACEBOOK LINKEDINBorn and raised in southern Monterey County, Chris Lopez graduated from Claremont McKenna College, receiving his bachelor’s degree with a focus on international relations and economics. While going to school, he founded Mariachi Serrano de Claremont with his wife. After working as an intern in Hong Kong and Mexico, Lopez returned to Monterey County to intern for Supervisor Simon Salinas, where he eventually became chief of staff. Lopez was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in June of 2018, taking his oath in 2019. Lopez represents District 3, which extends across East Salinas, Spreckels, Chualar, Greenfield, Gonzales, Ft. Hunter Liggett, King City, Soledad, Lake San Antonio, Lockwood, Bradley, San Lucas, San Ardo, Parkfield, Bryson-Hesperia, Mission-Soledad, and Arroyo Seco.
He was reelected in June 2022 for another term, starting January 1, 2023.
Lopez currently serves on various county commissions, including the Natividad Medical Center Board of Trustees, LAFCo, Monterey County Cannabis Committee, the Alternative Energy and the Environment Committee, Equal Opportunity Committee, Water Resources Agency Joint Boards Leadership Committee, and Urban County Standing Committee.
