The Salinas Valley Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises funds and support to ensure that the hospital continues to serve residents of the Salinas Valley.

The hospital’s roots go back to 1941, when local businessman and philanthropist Bruce Church called upon other community members to spearhead a fundraising effort to build a hospital for the people of the Salinas Valley. Church’s donation of the land where the hospital stands today inspired action; more than $300,000 was raised, and Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital was dedicated on March 29, 1953.

The Salinas Valley Health Foundation is managed by a Board of Governors who work with foundation staff, the hospital’s doctors, nurses and administrators. These community leaders set funding priorities, organize events, and engage members of the community to philanthropically support Salinas Valley Health.
