“We build neighborhoods” proudly states CHISPA (Community Housing Improvement Systems and Planning Association Housing), with a mission “to improve people’s lives and create healthy neighborhoods by developing, selling, owning and managing affordable homes.”
Since 1980, the nonprofit has built nearly 2,500 single-family homes and apartments for low- and moderate-income residents of Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties. CHISPA also offers scholarships to local colleges to students living in housing developed or managed by CHISPA.
