Christine Marie’s Star Riders is named for a little girl born with tuberscleorsis, who, at the age of 3, started to communicate, and eventually talk and sing, after being on the back of a horse.

Volunteers who run Christine Marie’s Star Riders believe that therapeutic horseback riding, along with social opportunities, can provide children and adults with disabilities—physical, mental, emotional, behavioral and social—with an escape from isolation and a sense of belonging. The more than 200 volunteers who care for the horses and the facility, are trained to learn “the Star Rider Way,” whether or not they have horse skills. Donations of gently used saddles, tack and equipment are always welcome.
