The Youth Arts Collective wants to inspire and encourage emerging artists in Monterey County, many of whom are from low-income families. It functions as an after-school art studio and mentorship program for students in high school and college who have a passion for art.

Founded in 2000 by Marcia Perry and Meg Biddle, and with help from several professional artists, YAC has mentored nearly 1,000 local youths, ages 14-22, providing them with art, job and life skills. The nonprofit offers members supplies and equipment, art training, studio space, exhibition and commission opportunities, and individual mentoring.

YAC’s popular annual LiveArt event and fundraiser features live art, music, and an auction. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, however, the organization currently operates virtually, hosting online holiday art shows, in-studio visits with artists, workshops, outdoor meetups with members, and mentoring.
