The nine-member Latino Affairs Commission makes recommendations to the County Board of Supervisors to ensure that the interests of the county's Latino population are protected and promoted. The commission advises the board on significant problems encountered by Latino residents and recommends goals for meeting their needs. Commissioners also advise the board on how best to leverage funds from local, state, federal and private agencies to meet the specific economic needs of the Latino population.

Supervisors each nominate one person who resides in their district, while the other four members are appointed on an at-large basis—two nominated by the City of Santa Cruz and two by the City of Watsonville.

To learn more about the commission, follow the commission’s Facebook page.

Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every other month (February, April, June, August, October, December). Unless held remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most meetings will be in the Community Conference Room at the Santa Cruz County United Way, 4450 Capitola Road, Suite 106, Capitola.
