The Santa Cruz Department of Parks and Recreation is responsible for more than 30 parks and open spaces within the city of Santa Cruz, including such iconic sites as the Santa Cruz Wharf, the Pogonip trail system, the Ken Wormhoudt Skate Park, and De Laveaga Park (and its disc golf course), as well as neighborhood refuges throughout the city. Parks and Rec also puts out an activity guide, handles rentals for the Civic Auditorium and the Louden Nelson Community Center, issues event permits, and organizes recreation events.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the department added many virtual services to keep residents entertained while many activities were postponed or cancelled. Find out more here:
