Current Councilmembers Jeff Duncan and Brian Baker are “termed out” at the end of the year, and Clark-Crets is being challenged by Stephanie Youngblood, David Ring and Amanda Cortez.

The town of Loomis is looking to replace the broken entrance sign by Burger King on Horseshoe Bar Road. The Loomis Basin Chamber of Commerce previously tended the "hard letter" sign, which is now non-functional.

The town of Loomis will soon be home to the first public garden in Placer County. The Loomis Town Council approved a memorandum of understanding with the University of California Cooperative Extension group for community demonstration gardens on the library grounds.

At the packed Loomis Train Depot meeting on March 22, the agenda included a public hearing on the Costco project. After a dozen speakers mostly in opposition spoke, the commission voted unanimously to recommend amending the Town General Plan and zoning to accommodate the project.

Loomis Town Council took action to get the controversial Costco project moving again. In 2020, plans called for a 155,000-square-foot store and gas station, but three lawsuits were soon filed against the project.

The council has received more than 850 comments on the General Plan update. But Mayor Jeff Duncan says, “This is your town and now is the time to provide feedback.”
