North Tahoe's trail network is set for a transformative expansion, thanks to a $9 million investment approved by the Placer County Board of Supervisors on Jan. 21. This funding, drawn from transient occupancy tax revenues, will support seven key projects, with nearly $5.9 million dedicated to trail construction and improvements.
The Placer County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday, Feb. 18, to advance updates to the North Lake Tahoe Parking Management Program, aiming to refine regulations, adjust fine and fee schedules, and improve parking enforcement ahead of the busy summer season.
The new North Auburn location within the Placer County Government Center’s Finance Administration Building, 2950 Richardson Drive, will offer modified services including holds, pick-up, returns and a small selection of materials to browse. Popular programs such as Preschool Storytime and Book Club will resume in the coming weeks.
The Placer County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a proclamation Tuesday declaring February as Grand Jury Awareness Month.“It is appropriate to recognize the efforts of those jurors, both past and present, who have volunteered their time and service to the Placer County Grand Jury,” the proclamation reads.
Placer County Health and Human Services, in partnership with the IRS and United Way, offers free tax assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
“We started 'The Placer Life' podcast to share stories we thought would be valuable for our residents that we didn’t have a place for elsewhere,” said Chris Gray-Garcia, communications and public affairs deputy director for County of Placer who has co-hosted the podcasts with Scott Sandow. “Podcasts, as a medium, let us tell longer, more detailed stories, and we’ve focused on stories that help convey something we feel is important for residents to understand.”

An investment totaling over $9 million is headed towards North Tahoe after a Placer County Board of Supervisors meeting on Jan. 21. That's when the board approved transient occupancy tax funding for seven projects in the Tahoe region of Placer County.
On Monday, Dec. 16, the Auburn-Grass Valley Elks Lodge 538 provided 40 Target gift certificates – totaling $50 each – to Placer County Veterans Service Officer Richard Johnson for distribution to homeless veterans.
