Now more than ever Tahoe residents need an avenue to relieve stress, develop new skills, and stay in shape … and what better way to do that than through movement and dance?

Founded by dancer Christin Hanna, who performed with the Nevada Festival Ballet when she was young, the Lake Tahoe Dance Collective came to life when she returned to her hometown of Tahoe City in 2006 and used her ballet and movement skills to host a summer performance workshop. Her idea then expanded to become the Tahoe Youth Ballet, formed in 2009 after a one-time recital at North Tahoe High School evolved into a company that hosts a full range of performances throughout the year, including its own productions as well as ones from visiting dance companies.

Nowadays, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit’s mission is to continue to promote modern, classical, and contemporary dance movements in Lake Tahoe through performances, education, and outreach. The Lake Tahoe Dance Collective also helps propel Lake Tahoe as a cultural destination.
