Adhering to a set of core values known as “The Truckee Way,” the civic leaders of Truckee are committed to “respect, courtesy, and fairness.” The area's tallest peak is Mt. Judah at 8.243 feet. Visitors come to the mountain town for all sorts of outdoor activities, including fishing, kayaking, hiking, skiing and more.
The Town Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. Meetings are televised by Truckee Tahoe Community Television. Tune in live on local Channel 18.
Planning Commission meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM. Agendas are available online, and meetings can be watched online.

It was standing room only at a community meeting hosted on Thursday, Feb. 6 by Nevada County to discuss a permanent supportive housing unit that the county may potentially buy in the Amstrong Tract of Truckee.
On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Truckee Town Council approved the R2SC Community Economic Vitality Action Team's recommendations for Catalyst Projects and authorized staff to negotiate partnerships with selected property owners.
2025's first Good Morning Truckee of the year had four speakers talk about their experiences with Truckee's many different housing programs and options—some of which were success stories, while others brought up concerns in the area.
Wildfires impact every Californian, and when one community suffers, the whole state feels the effects. To show solidarity and support, the Truckee Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Town Council Member Courtney Henderson to organize a relief drive for wildfire victims in Los Angeles.
The Truckee Town Council met on Tuesday, Jan. 14, to discuss updates regarding the new library.
