Since 1957, the Historical Society has devoted itself to collecting and preserving materials pertaining to the San Benito County of yesteryear.

In particular, its mission is “to promote an interest in and appreciation of the County’s past, by providing programs that offer educational opportunities and experiences. To bring together for exchange of ideas those interested in history, especially that of San Benito County.” The society runs the San Benito County Historic Park and Wapple House Museum and sponsors such events as the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, Civil War Days, and Brookdale Bluegrass.
