As a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, Pete Dailey worked with the Los Altos City Council—and his dissatisfaction with some of its members led him to run for a council seat. In particular, the Los Altos Town Crier reports, Dailey disagreed with former councilmember Anita Enander and is more aligned with Fligor. So it’s lucky for him that both he and Fligor will now be serving together on the council.
Los Altos has been Dailey’s home since 2010 and his children have attended Los Altos schools. In addition to serving on the parks commission, Dailey is a member of the New Theater Working Group and a volunteer on the boards of Los Altos Mountainview PONY Baseball and Mountainview Los Altos Girls Softball.
Dailey told the Los Altos Town Crier that housing, city financing and the environment are his hot-button issues. He said his focus will be implementations of programs under the city’s new climate plan: “There are going to be decisions that come before the council pertaining to the electrification of the city fleet, building more charging stations, the green canopy, drainage and creating a cooling center for seniors. … I will support those initiatives.”
Day job: Retired from the tech industry
Alma maters: Pepperdine University (MBA), Stanford University (master of liberal arts), UC Berkeley (bachelor’s degree in history)
Notable quote: “My priorities are to increase the supply of housing in compliance with state law, implement environmentally sustainable policies that reduce our carbon footprint, and get city finances back on track. No more unnecessary spending of millions of tax dollars on legal fees that should have been avoided.” (Source: Official campaign statement)
