Healings in Motion was created to provide assistance to both survivors of neurological impairments and their caregivers.

Strokes are the most common cause of long-term disability for adult residents of San Joaquin County—and also the third leading cause of death. Unhealthy diets and environments are two risk factors for strokes. By providing resources and education, Healings in Motion does as much as possible to prevent strokes and to provide assistance to those suffering from the aftermath of strokes.

Healings in Motion educates the public on stroke risks and treatment in different ways, be it digitally through Zoom or physically at events. An annual 5K run/walk raises funds to provide community outreach and recovery for those suffering from strokes. Founder Mary Nicholson suffered from neurological ailments herself, which caused the loss of many abilities. After recovering, she coordinated the first Central Valley Learning Disability Fair and ultimately started Healings in Motion.
