Catholic Charities is a nonprofit organization that offers social services in the San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Calaveras, Tuolumne, Alpine, and Mono counties. Its support areas are wide-ranging.
The organization offers a variety of services including veteran, senior, and immigration services, environmental justice, health care access, disaster case management, nutrition assistance, and family wellness.
The Supportive Services for Veterans and their Families serves veterans who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless through housing and rental assistance, child care, transportation, health care, financial assistance, and other necessary aid.
The senior citizen support system is also strong. It includes case management and in-home services, Title III Services, hospital-to-home services, and transportation with priority for medical appointments.
In terms of immigration services, Catholic Charities assists immigrants and families via legal help, ESL-Civic classes, and Enhanced Services for Asylees & Vulnerable Noncitizens (ESAVN).
The organization also offer robust family wellness programs, including family counseling, parenting education, mentoring for higher education for first-time and first-generation college students at San Joaquin Delta College, and home visitation services for grandparents of children 5 and under.
One of Catholic Charities Stockton’s strongest areas of involvement is environmental justice. The nonprofit has used its platform to uniquely tackle climate change and pollution in San Joaquin County through its Environmental Justice Program. More information can be found at ejstockton.org.
