Three Seeds is a Stockton-based 501(c)(3) with three priorities: education, employment, and empowerment.
For the first focus—education—Three Seeds targets first-generation students who often lack familial support and the necessary knowledge and resources to pursue higher education. The group offers in-person and virtual test proctoring (with fees); various classes on important skills such as financial literacy and entrepreneurship training; TSO Mastermind, which aids students in the college application process; and anger management classes (with a fee).
The second focus—employment—involves providing assistance with job applications, interviews, and writing résumés.
The organization’s final category—empowerment—involves assessing clients’ individual needs and providing resources accordingly. Examples of resources include the Three Seeds Empowered Living! program, a three-week women’s empowerment program; the Expectant Parent Support Program, for those who are about to be parents and were/are in the foster care system; and diaper distribution services for those who are experiencing financial difficulties.
Three Seeds has 250 repeat clients and has distributed more than 40,000 diapers. The group places a heavy emphasis on the core value of racial equity; to further its commitment as an antiracist organization, Three Seeds has a diverse board and staff members who are trained on racial and cultural idenity. Its goal is to meet the needs of clients without discrimination.
