Stockton Shelter for the Homeless provides shelter and basic needs to those experiencing homelessness. Its primary focus is emergency shelter.

Holman (HOPWA) House has 10 beds and houses individuals with HIV or AIDS for 18 months before they can settle down on their own and find employment. Five different HOPWA Condominiums and the Greenfield House have 25 beds and offer temporary housing for families whose parents have HIV or AIDS. The SSH Family and Single Women’s Shelter has 102 beds. As soon as women arrive at the shelter, they are assigned a case worker to help them get back on their feet. The women are expected to help out with assigned chores and have access to laundry, food, etc. There is also a kids’ camp during the summer.

Other available houses include the Women’s Low Barrier Shelter (25 beds), the Men’s Shelter (160 beds), the Veteran’s Shelter (9 beds), and the Men’s Drop-in Center (26 beds).

SSH also has a navigation center that has 180 beds and will help direct the unhoused toward self-sufficiency through case managers, housing assistance, and information about available social services.

SSH is open 24/7. When emergency shelters are full, provisions are made for mats on the floors and day shelters. SSH also provides emergency food, clothing, personal items, and transportation services for children (to and from school) and for individuals who need to access city and county services.
