Faith in the Valley

Faith congregations throughout five Central Valley counties have come together to form Faith in the Valley, which has a goal to improve the future for local families and communities.

Faith in the Valley is an example of what is known as faith-based community organizing. This is a method of having a like-minded community come together to correct and address problems found within the local community, while also strengthening the surrounding faith congregations. Faith in the Valley does this with approximately 120 congregations coming togeher from Fresno, Kern, Merced, Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties. These groups represent more than 100,000 people with the intention to make their corner of the world better for all.

At the time of this writing, Faith in the Valley has four different campaigns:

Clean Energy Jobs—This project is helping to campaign for new clean energy jobs throughout the Central Valley, while also working with various congregations to make their worship facilities environmentally friendly and also cost-effective.

Live Free Campaign—This project is an effort to prevent racial profiling and to come up with alternatives to jail time for certain offenders. The ultimate goal is to improve transparency between police forces and the people.

Dignity for All Immigrants—This project works to provide equality for immigrants, including access to healthcare, employment, and safe, affordable housing.

Safe and Healthy Communities—This project aims to provide safe recreation facilities, such as park playgrounds, and to funnel more funding into historically disadvantaged schools and neighborhoods to ensure an equal chance in life for all children.
