San Joaquin Fair Housing

San Joaquin Fair Housing works to ensure fair and affordable housing for all, and to eliminate housing discrimination.

Founded in 1983, the San Joaquin Fair Housing Association was established to assist residents of the county with fair, accessible, and safe housing. The organization is funded through by US Dept of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant, and it serves those living in Stockton, Tracy, Lodi, Manteca, Lathrop, Ripon and Escalon.

One mission of the group is to provide tenant services, from helping individuals and families find quality housing to providing forms and training. Clients are educated on how to navigate a variety of issues one might run into when renting an apartment or house, including the ins and outs of deposit returns, 30-day termination notices, and requesting assistance with repairs or replacements.

Landlord workshops are also available to help educate property owners on how to be fair and equitable. Through education and awareness, the San Joaquin Fair Housing Association works to improve the relationship between tenants and landlords. 

Donations go toward free counseling and mediation services, outreach and education, providing a presence at fairs and events, and staffing workshops.
