San Joaquin County Historical Society and Museum

The San Joaquin County Historical Society and Museum works to preserve the history of the region, from early Native American tribes to modern-day influential leaders and milestones.

Located on the grounds of picturesque Micke Grove Regional Park, the San Joaquin County Historical Museum educates guests on the tapestry of the past that makes up the San Joaquin area—from the Miwok and Yokut tribes that once inhabited the region to the founders of today’s cities. Many families spend the day at the park, enjoying lunch outside and then exploring the museum.

San Joaquin County is home to both modern innovation and agricuture—this is all showcased at the museum to engage visitors to the area, as well as instilling pride in locals. The museum is made up of a few different portions: 

The Sunshine Trail—A beautiful stroll through outdoor habitats with signs and audio descriptions along the way to provide an educational experience.

Historic Buildings—The 18-acre site is home to four historical buildings that have been relocated to museum property. The buildings include an authentic blacksmith shop and an 1860s schoolhouse.

Modern Buildings—The bulk of the museum's exhibits are located in these eight modern buildings that tell of the agricultural and industrial history of San Joaquin County.
