San Joaquin Valley Housing Cooperative

San Joaquin Valley Housing Collaborative exists to address housing needs throughout San Joaquin County.

San Joaquin Valley Housing Collaborative is a nonprofit that was formed in 2005 as a regional body to address housing issues throughout the region. There are eight counties throughout San Joaquin Valley and SJVHC serves them all. The collaborative’s ultimate mission is to promote and provide affordable housing through partnership, innovation, and government policy advocacy.

Originally called the Housing Work Group of the San Joaquin Valley Partnership, the group was birthed through an executive order by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. It has since become its own 501(3)(c) and receives support from a variety of coalitions and community development programs.

The Housing Collaborative has grown to address housing issues affecting low to moderate-income households in valley communities by advocating building capacity and collaboration for affordable, healthy neighborhoods and communities.

Today, the staff holds housing summits and informational workshops, and raises awareness about the lack of affordable housing throughout the county. Six current project priorities are listed on the website.
