The Excellence in Education Foundation works alongside the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District to enhance students’ learning experiences.
Sometimes there just isn’t enough public funding to support the optimum curriculum. This nonprofit organization raises money for grants and resources to support the teachers and kids within the district’s 12 schools across 720 miles.
The foundation receives donations through its Dining for Schools cards (which give its holders half-off entrees at more than 40 restaurants in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee area) and its Golfing for Schools/Skiing for Schools cards that give residents discounts at local ski resorts and golf courses. The money it accrues then supports the Tahoe Truckee Reads program, recognizing local teachers through its awards program, and its grant funding.
The foundation awards grants to teachers in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District through a meticulous application process, following up with the school district to support key initiatives and educational structures that make an impact on student learning.

Skiers and snowboarders can now pre-purchase reduced-rate lift tickets through the Excellence in Education Foundation's annual Skiing for Schools program, which is celebrating 35 years this season. The fundraiser offers access to premier North Lake Tahoe ski and XC resorts while supporting schools and programs within Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD). Tickets are on sale now.
TRUCKEE, Calif. – After two decades of transformative leadership, Laura Brown is stepping down as Executive Director of the Excellence in Education Foundation, and Amy Macosko has been announced as the Interim Executive Director until the foundation's board officially appoints her in spring 2025.
