Matthew Maynard was appointed by the Placer County Board of Supervisors to complete Assessor Kristen Spears’ final term after she retired in December 2021. He took office in January 2022 and then ran for the position in the June 2022 primary, beating challenger Sam Sherrod outright with 66.26% of the vote. Prior to his appointment, Maynard spent 15 years working in the Placer County Assessor’s Office.
