The City Attorney’s Office provides legal advice and support on matters involving the City Council, City Manager’s Office, and city departments, including review and negotiation of contracts, leases, licenses, policies and other documents related to the day-to-day operations of the city.

The office represents the city and any city officer or employee in legal actions or proceedings, and counsels the City Council with regarding litigation and legislation affecting the city. The city attorney attend council meetings and gives advice or opinions in writing whenever requested to do so by the council or officers of the city. The department also staffs boards and commission meetings as necessary.
