VOLUNTEER DONATE

This Sunnyvale-based nonprofit provides services such as food aid and rent assistance to families, veterans, and people experiencing homelessness.

The organization helps Sunnyvale residents with utility bills, car repairs, and gift cards for critical family needs. In addition, staff members respond with food assistance and other immediate help within one to two days when a client is facing eviction. Sunnyvale Community Services acts as a healthy food distribution center, utilizing donations from Second Harvest of Silicon Valley as well as purchased food. The organization also offers health and wellness programs, social work services, and work experience programs.

In addition, Sunnyvale Community Services provides assistance to veterans in Santa Clara County and residents in the Alviso neighborhood of San Jose.

Mission Statement

Sunnyvale Community Services (SCS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving residents of Sunnyvale, California, as well as the Alviso community of San Jose. We also assist unhoused individuals and families.
The mission of SCS is to prevent homelessness and hunger in our local community. Our vision is a community where everyone has a home with food on the table.
SCS serves as a safety net hub for underserved residents in north Santa Clara County and works to support any individual who comes to our agency seeking services, regardless of their city of residence.

Services

Our umbrella program, Comprehensive Safety-Net Services, is designed to assist our low-income neighbors through financial emergencies and help them become self-sufficient, addressing individual and systemic risk factors contributing to their vulnerability. The early intervention we provide, in the form of financial aid, food, and other assistance, helps clients stabilize their lives.

History

Sunnyvale Community Services (SCS) was founded in 1970 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the purpose of serving the underserved in our community and is dedicated to advocating for, empowering and enabling these communities.
SCS has been one of seven Emergency Assistance Network (EAN) agencies since the EAN of Santa Clara County was founded in 1978. We currently serve all zip codes in Sunnyvale as well as the Alviso community in north San Jose. We also assist unhoused individuals and families.
