VOLUNTEER DONATE

Silicon Valley Seeds is an organization dedicated to sharing the value of sustainable levels of biodiversity. The group works with local seed libraries and seed banks to encourage personal seed stewardship and food sovereignty.

Food sovereignty is the right to determine for oneself what food to eat, where it comes from and how it is grown. It allows individuals to take control of their own nutrition and make changes in their community that result in a better system for everyone. The key to food sovereignty is sustainable agriculture. And this is where Silicon Valley Seeds comes in by promoting “delicious, locally grown, healthful organic foods.”

Silicon Valley Seeds offers various ways to get involved, such as classes for new gardeners to learn about food preservation techniques, and volunteering activities that open up the chance for people to grow nutritious vegetables—a real “down to earth” experience. This work develops skills and also acts as a platform for neighbors to share similar interests.
