VOLUNTEER DONATE
ICAN, short for International Children Assistance Network, helps families and children develop skills and opportunities to build their own successful future. Volunteers provide parents with confidence to become their own advocates.
Specifically working with Vietamese-Americans, ICAN helps individuals engage with the community, stay informed about the events and resources available, and be inspired to reach for their dreams.
Services include social programs, community-based research, and humanitarian programs. Social programs were introduced to grapple with problems in the Vietnamese community: 30 percent of high school students are bullied, 31 percent feel depressed, 26 percent do not have health insurance, and 54 percent cannot speak English well. ICAN also offers early childhood education to bridge culture gaps.
ICAN documents the Vietnamese-American journey through the different perspectives of individuals. Their stories capture the refugee/immigrant experience in San Jose, inspiring future generations to stay engaged.
