Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen

Loaves & Fishes is a soup kitchen and food distribution center. Using volunteers and donated food, the nonprofit serve nutritious meals to the hungry.

This organization seeks to ensure that everyone in the community has access to healthy and nutritious food. Volunteers serve meals at no cost Monday through Friday at Goodwill Industries and San Jose Vietnamese Seventh Day Adventist Church. Additionally, Loaves & Fishes partners with 79 nonprofit agencies from Gilroy to Palo Alto to provide free hot meals. 

Founded in 2014, through the Child and Adult Care Food Program, Loaves & Fishes supports low-income families’ immediate needs and provides educational programs and services. Through expanded partnerships throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, even more hot/cold meals are provided. In addition, a delivery truck has enabled Loaves & Fishes to do the following:

• Increase the number of meals by 325 percent.
• Decrease the cost of meals by 62 percent. 
• Increase the number of children served from 5,300 to 100,000 annually.
