Korean American Community Services

Korean American Community Services was founded by three social workers who understood the social and economic challenges Korean Americans may face. With the help of volunteers, the group provide assistance to Korean Americans living in Santa Clara County.

Currently the organization is focused on serving recent immigrants and first-generation Korean American seniors who are more vulnerable due to their limited English language proficiency. More than 500 members are ready to serve 40 to 50 seniors daily.

Senior programs offered by KASC include a senior nutrition program, wellness classes, brown bag food distribution, health screenings, and ESL classes. Social services include information and referral and case management, utility bill services, interpretation and translation services, and transportation services. In addition, to engage the community with Korean culture, KACS holds cultural events and celebrations. Civic engagement and toddler co-op programs are also provided.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the group has partnered with other organizations, including the Asian Pacific Fund and Silicon Valley Community Foundation, to serve the most vulnerable, delivering hot meals and other necessities to seniors in Santa Clara County.
