Deaf Counseling Advocacy & Referral Agency

DCARA is an all-volunteer agency that works closely with the California Association of the Deaf and local communities. The organization provides interpretation, children’s reading assistance, foster parent programs and social activities for the deaf community.

DCARA’s main goal is to provide full access to American Sign Language and English education for people with hearing disabilities. The group offers advocacy services, community education, employment services, youth and family services, interpreting services, and disaster response services. Programs cover such topics as communication access, independent living, and employment assistance.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, DCARA is using its online platform to share resources with community members. A future event will be an Art Webinar that teaches about various motifs in Deaf art.
