VOLUNTEER DONATE

The Nature Conservancy aims to protect nature by purchasing and conserving land. Across California, the conservancy has protected 1.5 million acres of rivers, forests, and lands and 6,000 square miles of ocean.

The Nature Conservancy’s headquarters are in Virginia, but it keeps regional programs all over the world and within the United States. The Nature Conservancy protects ecologically important land for both wildlife and people, working in 79 countries to preserve and restore habitats that range from marshlands to coral reefs. Some of its recent efforts have been on using nature to mitigate flooding of the Mississippi River, restoring the Okavango Delta in Africa for wildlife to enjoy, and educating people on how to restore the natural environment in their own backyard.
