Davis Arts Center was created in 1960 begun by a group of artists offering classes in a series of rented buildings in downtown Davis.

The center moved to its own building in 1987—a 10,000-square-foot facility with studios for clay, weaving, visual art, dance, drama and music as well as the Tsao Gallery.

Annually Davis Arts Center offers more than 1000 classes, monthly exhibitions, the Classical Guitar Concert Series and the popular Holiday Sale. Since 2016, Davis Arts Center has run the Davis Art Studio Tour, a self-guided, two-day tour spotlighting Davis artists in their studios.
