The Bob Woodruff Foundation works to ensure that veterans, service members, and their families are set up for a successful future.
Bob Woodruff, a reporter for ABC News, was injured on the job in 2006 when an armored vehicle he was riding in was hit by an Iraqi roadside bomb. As a result, he suffered from a traumatic brain injury that almost took his life. He was spared thanks to the quick steps taken by soldiers, medics, and other military. He even recovered at a military medical center. As a result, the Woodruff family felt compeled to give back to military families past, present and future.
The Woodruff family specifically desired to raise awareness of the silent sufferings of veterans afflicted with traumatic brain injuries, post-traumatic stress disorder, and severe depression and anxiety. After their time of service is through, many are not sure where to go or what to do as they attempt to form a new life.
Every year, the Bob Woodruff Foundation has areas of focus. They tend to be similar each year, but 2023’s focus areas, as an example, were the following:
