Eric Guerra first assumed office as city councilmember of Sacramento’s District 6 on April 7, 2015. He won his reelection campaign with 65.4 percent of the vote on March 3, 2020, beating Kevin Rooney, Eric Frame and Waverly Hampton III. District 6 encompasses Campus Commons and Sierra Oaks in the North between Stockton Boulevard and Watt Avenue, including the areas of Tahoe Park and Little Saigon. A map of District 6 is pictured here.

Councilmember Guerra seeks to ensure that vulnerable families in the city get the resources they need. From an interview with the Sacramento State Hornet, his former university’s newspaper, Guerra said that he was proud to help create the Sacramento Family Unity, Education, and Legal Network for Immigrants (FUEL) after former President Donald Trump was elected to office. The organization offers free immigration legal consultation, mental health services, a rapid raid response hotline, and training school on how to handle ice raids.

In the interview, he stated, “During COVID, that network has been able to connect people to food and access to resources to make sure their kids are eligible for technology.”

In February 2021, Guerra announced his campaign for the California State Senate seat currently held by Richard Pan. Find out more on his 2022 campaign website.

Notable quote: On his campaign website Guerra states, “My first vote was to save our city-sponsored after-school programs. I have worked every day since to deliver more resources and services to our most vulnerable—children, seniors and families.”
