Joel Buckingham was elected to the office of district attorney for San Benito County in the June 2022 primary.
Buckingham has 16 years experience as a county prosecutor, 11 of those in San Bernardino County. He has successfully tried multiple homicide cases, gang and other violent felony cases, in addition to investigating and prosecuting financial and embezzlement crimes.
Previously employed at Ernst & Young in San Jose where he earned his CPA license, Buckingham has also served as treasurer for the San Bernardino County Public Attorney’s Association.
According to his candidate statement, Buckingham has a bachelor of science in business administration, accounting. His law degree is from UC Hastings Law, San Francisco.
