Community Homeless Solutions

Community Homeless Solutions has been helping people in Monterey and San Benito counties overcome homelessness and domestic violence since 1978 by offering emergency shelters, permanent housing, confidential safe housing, counseling, job training, and many more community resources.

“We believe that safe housing coupled with supportive services are critical to helping individuals and families make the progression from homelessness and domestic violence to stable, safe, and independent living,” states the website. In the words of one client, “The program—although it feels more like a family than a program—saved my family’s life. We had been homeless for nearly two years after fleeing the situation where my teenage daughter and I were no longer safe.” In total, CHS runs five shelters, a respite-care facility, more than 100 transitional housing beds, and numerous street outreach services providing more than 300 homeless men, women and families every night.
