Begun in 1972 by a group of volunteers, the first meals were delivered to the homes of 12 clients in Salinas.
Since incorporating as a nonprofit in 1985, services have been expanded to include the rural areas of the Salinas Valley.
As proudly stated on the website: "Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley has never had a waiting list for our meal delivery service and we continue to serve those in our community who are in need."

The year 2022 marks a milestone for the nonprofit organization, and in honor of this achievement, Meals on Wheels will host a 50th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser on Oct. 6.
