The Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County supports low-income people with emergency and sustaining services. The organization “eliminates poverty and creates social change through advocacy and essential services.” Its 40 employees and more than 500 volunteers have served over 85,000 participants.

Programs the organization provides:

  • Alcance gives employment services to under-resourced youth and adults.
  • Day Worker Center of Santa Cruz County helps day laborers secure safe employment, develop job skills, improve wages, and become more fully engaged members of community.
  • Davenport Resource Service Center offers services regarding different topics.
  • The Rental Assistance Program supports low-income families with children and households with disabled and/or elderly members. 
  • Santa Cruz County Immigration Project provides outreach and immigration legal assistance.
  • CalWorks Emergency Payment Program helps retain employment or continue individuals’ education.
  • The Thriving Immigrants Collaborative provides direct services to immigrants.
