VOLUNTEER DONATE

Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula offers healthy nutrition to the homebound in the area, promoting the physical and emotional well-being and independence of seniors and disabled elderly who are unable to shop or cook for themselves. The agency asks for donations, though no client is ever turned away for inability to pay.

Since its founding in 1972 by Sally Judd Griffin, the nonprofit has served more than 6 million meals; in 2020, more than 91,000 meals were delivered. MOWMP operates three core programs: Home Delivered Meals, which provides freshly prepared meals five days a week to mostly low-income seniors, with an optional meal for the weekend; Group Dining, which offers hot noon lunches at reasonable prices to ambulatory seniors at four different dining sites; and exercise, health, and wellness classes and activities at the community center in Pacific Grove.

In addition to its regular services, MOWMP also hosts special annual events, such as the Women Who Care Luncheon, Bocce Ball Tournament/Italian Dinner, and Culinary Classique d’Elegance.
