Santa Clara County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg represents more than 400,000 residents in District 4, which includes west San Jose, the cities of Campbell and Los Gatos, and the unincorporated communities of Burbank and Cambrian.
She was elected in 2018 for her first term on the board and easily kept her seat for a second term, winning unopposed in the June 2022 primary.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., Ellenberg moved to San Jose in 1991. She has worked as a real estate and land-use attorney and has a strong interest in education. Ellenberg is an American Leadership Forum Senior Fellow. According to her official biography, she focuses her efforts on “prioritizing children, supporting mothers, empowering youth and stabilizing families.”

Santa Clara County jail deaths reached a 20-year high in 2024.Ten people died in the custody of the Sheriff's Office last year across the main jail, Elmwood Correctional Facility and county hospitals where deputies transported incarcerated people for medical care. More than half of the total deaths happened at the Elmwood facility in Milpitas. The number of deaths doubled from five in 2023.
