The Gonzales Fire Department provides fire suppression, prevention, and emergency response to the city of Gonzales and the Gonzales Rural Fire Protection District. The department's history began in 1929, before the city was incorporated; once a fully volunteer force, it has transitioned to a staffed department with career officers assisted by volunteers. In addition to emergency response, the department offers CPR classes, a Community Emergency Response Team, and blood pressure testing.
