The department consists of 14 sworn police officers, one records supervisor, one police clerk, and one community service officer. Contact information for each staff member is available online.

The Volunteers in Policing Program allows community members to assist the department with many daily operations. Students between the ages of 14 and 21 can join the Police Explorer Program and learn about police work. Explorers should live in the Gonzales Unified School District and maintain a 2.0 grade-point average.
