The Town of Truckee, Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, Truckee Donner Public Utility District, Tahoe Forest Health System, Truckee Tahoe Airport District, North Tahoe Fire Protection District, the California Highway Patrol and the Truckee Chamber of Commerce are holding the second year of Truckee North Tahoe Tech Teens (TNT Tech Teens), a workforce initiative focused on promoting the diverse range of tech-related jobs available to Truckee and Tahoe students. Â
The Truckee Tahoe Airport District's Airport Community Team (ACT) meeting on Wednesday, February 12, focused on one of the community's most pressing concerns: aircraft noise. With both in-person and virtual attendees, the meeting served as a platform for residents, pilots, and airport officials to engage in an open dialogue about the impact of airport operations on the surrounding neighborhood.

The meeting will focus on noise and annoyance outreach, providing an opportunity for residents, pilots, and stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue about minimizing and understanding the impact of airport operations on the surrounding community.

The 2024 wildfire season has proven once again to be an active one, with California witnessing over 7,100 wildfires that have scorched more than 1 million acres. The Tahoe region, in particular, experienced several major fires, including one of the largest in state history. While many homes and structures were lost, and lives were impacted, the devastating consequences could have been much worse. For residents of the Truckee-Tahoe area, the recent fires served as a stark reminder of the region's ongoing wildfire risks.
